With 45 volunteers on this years trip and lots of new members joining this year we now have a Facebook Event for this years trip to Moldova - click here to RSVP
While scouting Facebook we found that one of our newest members Becki Taylor is already putting Facebook to good use to raise funds.
Becki's "ranting"...As many of you are aware, no doubt due to my continual ranting, I am setting off to Moldova, perhaps foolishly, in August for two weeks hard graft working on a Boarding School for Disabled Children. I am using this page to try and make use of the many people I seem to know online by showing you what I get up to in my attempts to rob people of a little cash!If you can afford to PLEASE make a small dontation to my cause. All I am asking is that you skip one beer and give me the cash!!Help Becki's cause by donating at: www.justgiving.com/beckitaylor
Thank you, Becki xxx
Teech would like to welcome Becki and look forward to seeing her on this years trip to Moldova

Project 1998- Bucharest
This was the first year a group of people were taken to help projects within two hospitals in Bucharest.
The standards of hygiene were terrible, not the fault of the Romanians as it had been like this since an earthquake hit the hospitals and there wasn’t any money to improve conditions - they were actually worsening!
Scroll through the pictures below and see what we actually achieved with support from people like

Project 1999 - Craiova
The project for this year was a residential school for disabled children, one of only two such schools in the whole of Romania.
Our tasks were to get the therapy pool working again, modernize and decorate the infirmary and completely redecorate the dining area.
Browse the pictures below and see what we actually achieved with support from people like yourselves.

Project 2000- Lungesti
TEECH 2000:- This years project was to renovate an old peoples home in the small rural community of Lungesti, taking with us an articulated lorry full of aid and equipment. We also wanted to enlist the help of the local people to encourage them to help themselves.
There was no proper sanitation or running water. The wells dry up in the summer and the pipes freeze in the winter. Conditions there were very, very, poor.

2001-Podul Iloiae
The conditions at this hospital were so bad that it was going to be closed down and being the only hospital serving a community of approx 11,000 people (including the villages) it would have been a catastrophe. There was so much work to do though, we decided to take it on as a two year project.

Project 2005 - Casa Linda
A home for children with learning difficulties. More information on the work at Casa Linda can be found on the RAKE web site The 26 TEECH volunteers are pleased to announce the successful completion of the 2005 project. We decorated, plumbed, plastered, painted, cemented, carpeted, built and repaired for 7 days to leave the home in good shape for the future of these children. We had a wonderful reception from Helen and her staff and we left Casa Linda with that warm feeling of a job well done and that the home and the children were in good, safe hands. Summary of work.
TEECH received sponsorship in both goods and cash from a wide variety of individuals and companies both big and small. TEECH would like to express our heart felt thanks to all of them. Below is a list of tasks we managed to complete thanks to the support from our sponsors and volunteers.
New baths, sinks, taps, toilets, new tiles on floor and walls and some re plastering
Installation of electric showers to save on fuel costs to ensure constant hot water
Dehumidifier supplied to solve the problem of the extreme damp in the main living room
Kitchen- new sinks and taps, new units, re-tiling. New fridge-freezer
Painting and repairs to the outside of the house, the verandah tiled
Decoration sitting room, all bedrooms upstairs and down, new carpets fitted
New bunk beds supplied
Upstairs balconies glazed, decorated and carpeted so that they can be used more effectively as rooms
New front and back doors as they fit badly and are extremely draughty in the winter
Hall, stairs and landing decorated, hall tiled
External painting, making good steps and lighting
Outdoor play equipment mended, painted and improved. New swimming pool
Worked with the children, keeping them amused and occupied while the work was carried out

Project 2007 - Târgu Frumos Hospital
We are delighted to boast that the 2007 was another very successful project. On behalf of the Trustees of Teech, we would like to thank BT and all of the Sponsors for their support and contributions to the Charity. Special thanks must go to all of the individuals who made the event possible by giving up their valuable time, before, during and after the 2007 Romania Trip. Without this support we could not succeed. I would also like to thank each of you for your commitment over the years and the good example which you set for the new volunteers. With 33 volunteers attending in 2007 we are very proud to announce the following goals were achieved at the maternity ward of Targu Frumos Hospital.
1, A major uplift to the patients shower area 2, New toilets and basins3, Provision of a staff washroom4, Redecoration of 9 rooms, a ward corridor and a kitchen5, A complete kitchen refit6, Repairs to windows, doors and replacement of hospital entrance frame7, Major rewiring and plumbing improvements8, Extreme loss of sweat (perspiration for the Ladies) and enforced replenishment by the Tuborg System (pat pending).
In addition to this work, the great support from individuals and companies enabled us to make vital donations of medical equipment with an incubator for the new born babies, basinets, hospital beds, video monitors and much more.

Project 3 Year 2008 - Family run orphange
3. Chisinau Orphanage
This started off with the people that run the orphanage adopted one child into their family and it grew from there. They now have 27 orphans there all living in a family atmosphere. This building of this orphanage was finished in 2000 which was the end of a three year project by a Dutch and American charity. Unfortunately once the building was completed the funding ceased and the couple that run the orphanage raise some of the funds from all the profits made from a small haulage enterprise. (He owns 2 Lorries and uses them to transport freight throughout Europe).
The funds raised by this though do not meet all of the bills that come in and items are failing to which they cannot replace. Their care for the adopted members of their extended family does not stop when they reach 18 as they continue to support them even when at university and after until they can stand on their own 2 feet. They currently have 2 of their children at University - one there by scholarship and the other they have to pay for!

Project 2 Year 2008 - Village School Aid Delivery
2. Village School (156 children at present)
Parts of the school were in reasonable good condition but other areas poor, we were shown the Gym where some of the floor had collapsed. (not good for 5 a-side and ankle injuries )They asked about the possibilities of building a small store room accessible from the double doors from the Gym whereby they could safely store Gym kit.
Whilst there we were shown the toilet block – must admit I used it (any port in a storm), It was terrible (I’ve seen quite a few places with poor conditions over the years – this was bad). They asked if it was possible to make them more hygienic?Particular mention was made of the path out the front of the school where a small child had died of head injuries when he tripped on the uneven surface and bashed his head.
Some decorating required with building work on the older school building as well as replacing / repairing electrics – they were hoping that a more energy / cost efficient method of lighting the classrooms etc. could be provided. Some interim work is planned for here with the main work becoming our project for 2009. A full survey can be carried out by whilst there during 2008!

Project 1 Year 2008 - Boarding school for disabled children
1. School / orphanage for disabled children (up to 200 children)
A few years ago the school had a grant from the government which they spent very wisely upgrading the building fabric of the dining area and kitchens but money ran out before they could buy new cookers etc. So the facilities inside the kitchen are not very good. There is no more money to be available to them by the government like before! They have their own medical facility with fully trained staff but the equipment there is so antiquated.
Dormitories need fully equipping and decoration / lighting replaced. Various toilets need new cisterns, at least two of them needed to be provided from new (existing squat toilets but with flush cisterns) Shower heads need to be fitted in place of mixer systems , the summer shower block needs completely re-vamping. There is an entrance exit into the corridor between the school and dormitory block which needs the steps replacing and new hand rails fitting.
As you can see lots of work is required and not only secure parking and storage for all of the vehicles but also somewhere to stay as well. We would be able to use the kitchen facilities and we could even enlist the help of the kitchen staff if required.

More Information
Flushed with the success of this trip but seeing the need to be more structured, we organised ourselves into a proper registered charity and TEECH was born. We kept Telecom's in our name as so many of us worked for BT but we are a non BT organisation and totally independent.
More Information
It all started in 1998 when a group of people who worked together at BT took up the challenge from a work colleague to help repair two hospitals in Bucharest. About 50 of us under the banner of BTL Aid to Romania travelled out for a two week period in August and set about painting, plastering, lighting and generally making the two hospitals a cleaner, safer and brighter place.
